Democracy vs Dictatorship

"Freedom, Is a strong seed
Planted, In a great need"
Democracy is a successful and popular form of government in the modern times. It is a modern type of government where the "Public Will" is expressed. The dictum,
"Some are born to rule and others to obey,"
is rejected. Abraham Lincoln once defined democracy as:
"...Government of the people,
by the people, for the people,
shall not perish from the earth."
Democracy is a mechanism through which people choose their representative by voting. There are several political parties in a democratic country. The party which wins by the majority of vote is called to form the government. The rest of the parties play the role of an opposition in the "Legislative Assembly". In the assembly, important issues are put up, discussed and decided by voting.
"In a democracy the poor will have more power than the rich,
because they are more of them and
the will of majority is supreme."
In a democratic system, people elect their own rules. If they do not be selected again. The ministers are responsible to the legislature and as soon as they lose trust, they are made to resign. Thus, a change in government is brought about by peaceful methods and not by the coup d'etat or revolution.
The voice of the people is the voice of God

Pride Hath a Fall

"Pride hath a fall" is a universal. We should not be proud of our innate qualities because pride hath a fall. We should neither underestimate nor laugh at others. Hard work continues struggle are necessary to achieve a lofty goal. The story of the hare and the tortoise proves the truth of this famous proverb.
Once there lived a hare and a tortoise in a forest. They were a very fast friends. The hare was very proud of his fast speed. He often mocked at the tortoise for his laziness. One day, as usual, the hare made fun of the slow moving tortoise in the company of other animals. The tortoise felt his insult and challenged the hare to run a race. At first, the hare laugh at the challenge, but the tortoise kept on challenging him. At last, the hare accepted the challenge.
I bet I'll beat you in a race
The tortoise said,'to yonder place'
A distant tree was fixed as a winning post. they requested an owl to act as a judge. On the fixed day, the hare and the tortoise reached the starting point. The owl gave a signal to start the race. the proud hare ran very fast. Soon he was out of sight. On the way, he saw a cool shady tree.He thought that the lazy tortoise could not overtake him. He stopped there to take rest for a while and fell asleep.
The tortoise could not run fast but he went on moving slowly but steadily. On the way, he saw the hare fast asleep. He passed on silently. He was dead tried but he did not take rest anywhere. He continues to walk with strong determination. At last, he reached the winning post.On the other hand, when the hare woke up, he thought that the lazy tortoise would still be far behind. He ran as fast as he could. When he reached the fixed place, he was much ashamed to find the tortoise smiling on the winning post. The judge declared the tortoise winner. The hare which was fond of laughing at the tortoise, became a laughing stock himself.
'Didn't', he cried,"I tell you true
What's the use of speed to you?
I've wone the race. Where'h you be,
If you'd carry a house like me"

Then he realized that he should not make fun others.

A Switch in Time Saves Nine

" A switch in Time Saves Nine" is a universal truth. If a minor damage is not repaired in time, it may cause some big lose. It is a fact that it saves time to mend things well in time. Haste makes waste. The story of a careless merchant proves the truth of this famous proverb. Once upon a time, a merchant went to a market to sell his goods. He earned a lot of money and decided to go back his village after taking rest in an inn. The stable boy informed him that once of his horse shoe needed a nail.
The night was fast coming. The merchant thought that once nail was no importance. So, he decided to set out on his journey without getting it mended. He had hardly traveled half-the way when the horse started to limb. It's foot was badly injured.
Now, the merchant was passing through a thick forest and darkness was prevailing all around. Suddenly, some robbers appeared there. He tried to gallop the horse to save himself from the robbers but all in vain. The horse could not run for want of a nailed shoe. The robbers overcome him and snatched away all his money. Then, the merchant realized that he would not have lost his hard-earned money if he had got mended the horse shoe in time. He repented deeply but it was no use crying aver spilt milk.

Love - An Essence of All Religions

Through love thorns become roses, and
Through love vinegar becomes sweet wine,
Through love the stake becomes a throne,
Through love misfortune becomes good fortune,
Through love burning fire becomes pleasing light,
Through love stone becomes soft as butter,
Through love grief becomes a joy,
Through love lions become harmless,
Through love sickness becomes health
Through love wrath seems to be a mercy,
Through love the dead rise to life,
Through love the king becomes a slave.

The Rain

I hear leaves drinking rain;
I hear rich leaves on top
Giving the poor beneath
Drop after drop;
This a sweet noise to hear
These green leaves drinking near

And when the sun comes out,
After this rain shall stop,
A wondrous light will fill
Each dark, round drop;
I hope the sun shines bright;
It will be a lovely sight.

Honesty is the best policy

"Honesty is the Best Policy" is a universal truth. The fruits of honesty are honour, grace and reward. While, dishonesty brigs about disgrace, curse and abuse. The story of a woodcutter proves the truth of this famous proverb
Once there lived a poor woodcutter in a certain village. He was honest and pious. He earned his livelihood by cutting woods all they day long. One day, as usual, he was cutting woods at the bank of river. By chance his axe slipped from his hands and fell into the river. He became gloomy and did not know what to do. He began to shed tears and prayed to God for help.
Just then, An angel, happened to pass that way. He came to the old wood-cuter and asked the cause of his distress. The woodcutter told him that his axe had fallen into the river and he could not buy another. An Angel was much moved on seeing his pathetic condition. He assured him of his help and jumped into the river. He brought out a golden axe and gave it to the woodcutter. But, the woodcutter refused to take it and said,"This is not mine." Angel once again dived into the water and brought out a silver axe. The woodcutter once again refused to take it and said, "My axe is made of iron."Angel jumped into the river for third time and brought out his iron axe. On seeing his axe, the woodcutter cried with joy, "Yes, this is mine."
The woodcutter got his axe and thanked him. Angel was greatly impressed by the honesty of the poor woodcutter. He praised his honesty and gave him the other two axes as a reward. This story proves that honesty is the best policy.

Union is Strength

"Union is Strength" is a universal truth. The fruit of unity are peace, strength and prosperity. While disunity brings about trouble, failure and ruin.Unity among persons of a family or a society or nation leads them to success. The story of a farmer and his sons proves the truth of this proverb.
Once there was an old farmer. He had three sons who always quarreled with one another. The old man was greatly worried to see this situation. He tired to settle their disputes by words but all in vain.
Unfortunately, the old farmer fell ill. He was on the verge of death. He wanted to make a last attempt to reconcile his sons. He sent for his sons. He asked them to bring some sticks and tie them in a bundle. Then, he asked his sons to break the bundle of sticks. All of them tired their best to break but none of them succeeded.
Then the old man asked his sons to untie the bundle. He asked them to break then sticks and they broke the sticks easily. At this point, the old farmer addressed his sons that they would be strong and unconquerable like the bundle of sticks if untied. Otherwise, they would be destroyed like sticks. Many people working together one much stronger than many persons working separately. Saying this , the old farmer breathed his last.
The practical piece of advice had a great impact on the quarreling sons. They promised to live in peace to enjoy the fruits of unity in future. They forget their disputes and conquered every obstacle in the way of success with the force of unity. The family becomes wealthy, prosperous and happy very soon. This story proves that union is strength.
F.Schiller says:-
"Even the weak become strong
when they are united,
therefore, it is said that
United we stand, divided we falt"

All That Glitters is Not Gold

"All That Glitters is Not Gold" is a universal truth.Inner beauty is more precious than outer beauty.Appearances are often deceptive. We should not be proud of our innate qualities because pride hath a fall. The story of a foolish stag proves the truth of this famous proverb.
Once a stag was drinking water at stream of clear water in a forest. He saw his reflection in the water. He was greatly impressed by the beauty and shine of his glittering horns. He felt proud of his beautiful horns. He felt sorry at the sight of his thin legs.He thought his legs ugly and unworthy of him.So, he began to curse his ugly legs.
The beauty of his antlers praised,
But at his legs in horror gazed:
They looked like spindles as they shrank,
Out of his sight beneath the bank.

The stag was lost in his dreams when he heard the howls of hounds. He jumped up and ran towards the forest to save his life.He ran as fast he could. His thin and ugly legs were of great help him.Soon, he covered a long distance and was beyond the reach of the hounds. To be more safe, he hid himself in a thick bush and again lost in his sweet dreams of beautiful horns. The hounds continued their chase.Soon, they reached near the bush. When the stag heard their howls, he jumped up to ran away. But, unfortunately, his beautiful horns got entangled in the bush. He struggled very hard to free himself from the thorny bushes but in vain.He repented of his pride and cursed his beautiful horns which had entrapped him there. The hounds fell upon him and tore him into pieces in no time.It is clear from this story that all that glitters is not gold.
All that glitters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told;
Many a man his life has sold
But my outside to behold:

My Favourite Poet

A poet is born, not made.

Allama Iqbal is the greatest poet-philosopher of Asia.He is one of those eminent personalities who have changed the course of history with their tireless and selfless efforts. He was the father of ideology of Pakistan. He aroused the sleeping Muslims of India with the help of his inspiring poetry. His poetry infused a new spirit in the Muslims youth and set them to action. To a Pakistan, he is a great poet as Shakespeare to an Englishman.

Allama Iqbal was born at Sialkot on the 9th of november, 1877. His father Sheikh Noor Muhammad, was a great mystic. Iqbal inherited mysticism and deep love for religion from his father. He got his early education at a local high school and passed his intermediate examination from Murrey college, Sialkot. He was greatly impressed by his teacher, Syed Mir Hassan, who taught him Arabic, Persian and Islamiat. Then he joined Government College Lahore for higher education. There, he was greatly inspired by Dr.Arnold who advised him to study philosophy. In 1899,he did his M.A. in philosophy and started teaching at Government college, Lahore.

He proceeded to Europe for higher studies in 1905.He obtained the degree of Bar-at-Law from London and the degree of Ph.D in philosophy from Germany. His stay in Europe was of great importance. He keenly observed social, economic cultural and political values of Europe. But, the materialism of the western society could not impress him.

Empty of concord is the soul of Europe,
Whose civilization to no Makkah bends.

On his return, he started his law pratice in Lahore High Court. But, he sson gave up this profession because his heart was not in it.His interest was in poetry, philosophy and religion.

Allama Iqbal was much worried about the sad and miserable plight of the Muslims. They were politically,economically and educationally backward, oppressed and exploited.Through his poetry, he wanted to arouse the Muslims from sound-slumber and develop in them political consciousness.He loved the Muslims, because;

Through Love the dead rise to life
He made them conscious of their political, social and religious status. His poetry breathed a new spirit into the Muslims. He wanted to receive the glory past of the Muslims.

Love's madness has departed: in
The Muslims veins the blood runs thin;
Ranks broken,heart perplexed,prayers cold,
No feeling deeper than the skin,

Iqbal was not only a great poet but also a great leader. He did not believe in art for art's sake.Through the medium of his Urdu and Persian poetry, he expressed his political, philosophical and religious ideas. He composed several remarkable poems which carry the inspiring concepts of "Khudi","Murd-e-Momin" and "Shaheen".His poetry infused the spirit of dignity and freedom in the muslims youth and made them realize their religios identity.

Faith is like Abraham at the stake: to be
Self-honoring and God-drunk, is faith

Iqbal is an inspired and creative poet. His poetry is rich in imagery and has remarkable poetic appeal due to the beauty of sound. He expressed his religious and philosophical views by using simple language and beautiful similes. Many volumes of his poetry have been published."Bang-i-Dara","Bal-i-Jabril", "Zarb-i-Kalim","Javaid Nama" and some of them. All of these have become classics of literature.

His giant wings prevent him from walking.

Iqbal's poetry worked wonder in arousing the Muslims from sound-slumber.It greatly inspired politicians, journalists and students. In 1930,Iqbal delivered his historical presidential address in the annual session of all India Muslim League at Allahabad. He asserted that the only solution of the problems of the Indian Muslims was a separate Muslim state. This was the first demand for Pakistan. Though the Muslims achieved Pakistan in 1947.Yet he did no live to see the new Muslim state. He died in 1938 and was buried in Lahore. He will remain alive in the hearts of the Muslims for ever.

"He dies........alas! how soon,
he dies."

Life in a big city

Life in a big city represents the modern mode of life with all of its comforts and vices. It is fast, busy and restless. The city streets are crowded with people. They are always running after one thing or an other. They have no time to stand and stare.

What is the life if, full of care
We have no time to stand and stare

The city life is very different from the village life.It seems an interminable war in different battelfields.

In cities no one is quite but many are lonely.

In a city life is full of charms, facilities and comforts. It has many distinctive advantage. It offers many kind of recreation and amusement. There are clubs where the cultural literary and sports activities carry on day and night. All the necessities and comforts of life are available to the city people. There are big shops, stores and super-markeets where every thing is available for the customers.

The latest and modern medical and educational facilities are available in a big city. The hospitals and clinic are equipped with the latest instruments. The educational facilities are also remarkable in a big city. There are many schools, colleges, technical institutions and universities. That is why, the people in a city are advanced, enlightened and well-dressed and well-educated. They have grater opportunities of employment. there is a great demand for the educated officers and the skilled workers in government offices, private companies and factories in a city. That is why, it is said that

Education is the transmission of civilization

The people enjoy the latest facilities of transportation and communication. They can more from one place to another with speed and comforts. They have the modern facilities of communication like mobile phones and internet. The newspapers keep them well informed about the current issues and fashions of the world. They broaden their outlook and enrich their vision. Cleanliness and proper hygienic condition add to the attraction of a city life.

But, the life in a big city is not all comforts and blessing. The unchecked population has created many problems. Most of the educational and medical facilities are not available to the common man. Traffic problem has become a great nuisance in big cities. In spite of a remarkable progress, the modern amenities are beyond the reach of a common man.

In a big city, the atmosphere is polluted. The factories and automobiles emit smoke day and night and pollute the air. Pure water and food are not easily available. The prices of thing are very high.

Look outside, see the trees
Watch the flowers in the breeze
Things won't be like this in a year or two
If polluting is all we do.

In spite of all luxury, the city people lead a restless and worried life. They are too much busy and have little time for their friends, relatives and families. They are always in a hurry. Despite all these shortcomings, life in a big city is full of charms, comforts and opportunities

"What I like about cities is that
every thing is king size,
the beauty and the ugliness"

Dialogue between a teacher and a student

Teacher:

Hello Meera! You are a bit late today.

Meera:

Yes, Madam, I am sorry.

Teacher::

Well. What happened?

Meera:

The school bus was right on schedule. It was about to cross the canal bridge when it came to a halt with a jerk. The tyre had gone flat.

Teacher:

I see. It's none of your fault then!

Meera:

One thing more, Madam. The driver had no jack with him. He waved to other vehicles but they would not stop. Nobody seemed willing to oblige at this rush hour.

Teacher:

Well. What did you do then? You came by another bus. Didn't you?

Meera:

No, Madam, we left the bus where it was and walked up to school all the way.

Meera:

Well done! You are a brave girl indeed. Now, girls let us get going with our lesson.

The Value of Sports And Games

"A healthy mind in a healthy body" is a well-known adage. So is the saying, 'All work and no play makes jack a dull boy.' Proverbs and saying reveal the practical wisdom and log experience of the world. They are like golden coins whose currency is for ever. Without games and sports our youngsters would develop into cowards, lethargic weaklings and imbeciles. One of the most effective and time-tested ways to ensure healthy growth of body and mind is to make students and young men and women take active part in outdoor activities of sports and games. The aim of education is all round development of the personality of the students, the future of the nation. Unless they are bodily fit, they cannot be mentally competent. It is a well established fact that development of mental faculties depends to a great extent on the proper and timely growth of body and it various organs. For want of physical growth there would be lopsided development and children will be wanting in balanced personality.

Games and sports, athletics and outdoor exercise inculcate discipline, teamwork, patience, sense of justice and fair play, courage, endurance, cooperation and perseverance. These are the qualities which can be easily acquired in the field through playing various games like football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, basketball, tennis etc. Similarly, weight-lifting, gymnastics, swimming, running, jogging, horse-riding etc. are very rewarding as they stimulate physical and mental growth.

Intellectual or mental power as well as manpower are equally important for the progress and development of a nation. Manpower means not merely the number of hands but also the powerful and healthy hands that can venture any task, challenge and odds. Weak hands and faint hearts can neither turn the wheels of industry, nor plough the field, nor protected the country against foreign aggression. It is said and rightly that the battle of Trafalgar was fought and won on the playground of the school where the hero of the war, Horatio Nelson( 1758-1805) played games and enjoyed sports. He got training in discipline and imbibed the qualities of leadership here.

We want tough trained, disciplined, brave, dashing, noble-minded, intelligent, powerful and patriotic citizens, men and women. Such product is possible only when the activities of the students in schools and colleges are judiciously spread over both class-rooms, laboratories, libraries and the arena of sports and games. Swimming pools, gymnasiums, playgrounds and stadiums are as important as class-rooms and libraries. It is by taking part in games and sports right from the elementary school that young men and women can have necessary physical fitness, right mental make-up and abilities to face the tough challenges, realities and difficulties of life when they enter their manhood and womanhood.

Importance of science subjects

This is the age of science and scientific wonders and achievements. science is very comprehensive and all-inclusive. It touches the life of all of us in so many ways. We cannot think of life without science. It is a very important subject and form an integral part of school curriculum all over the world. There is growing awareness of the importance of science among teachers, students and parents. And this is in keeping with the expanding horizons of science and scientific achievements. We live in a scientific and technological age and therefore, its knowledge is of great significant.

Like any other school subjects, science is very important for the proper mental development of students. Along with other subjects, science forms an integral part of school education. science helps the students to have objective and factual knowledge of the world of nature and life. Science has changed the pattern of life in an unprecedented way. Without the knowledge of science, appreciation and understanding of the modern life would not be possible. Science has revolutionized and liberalized life. The wonders of science, what it has done for humanity, what it will do for humanity in future, these questions can be best answered and understood by the study of science itself.

The study of science subjects inculcates in the student a dedication and thirst for the truth. It teach the value of deep and objective observation, analysis and collection of various things and happenings. It gives an insight into the laws of nature and their operation. The training and knowledge in science imparts scientific methodology to the students which can be easily transferred in solving the problems of life and arriving at solution s of even complex situations. By studying science, the students become disciplined, observant, analytical, careful and systematic. Gradually these habits, skills and abilities become part of their character and conduct. By studying science and doing practical in the laboratory the students become more disciplined, industrious and objective.

Study of science broadens our outlook and widens our mental horizon. Then our vision and concepts become more practical and realistic. The works and life of great scientists like J.C. Bose, Galileo, Newton, Einstein etc. are bound to have far reaching and ennobling effects on the career and life of the students. Their lives and works can be a great source of inspiration, optimism, hard work and dispassionate study of the phenomena of nature. Scientists lead a life full of dedication, commitment, frugality and strict self discipline. By studying the biographies of them some of these qualities are bound to be generated in the readers as well.

The utilitarian value of science teaching is also great. It enables the student to be practical and realistic to face the challenges of life with courage. It teaches how to be self-reliant and independent and fend for oneself economically. A student who has studied science subjects and got practical training stands for better chances for self-employment than any other student who has not been a science student. In this wonderful and exiting world of science, it is essential that our young-men and women in schools and colleges are given a sound knowledge of the subject. They should be taught the laws, methods, applications and achievements of science along with such other subjects as history, civics, language, literature or philosophy. They should be taught the first principles of the basic sciences in simple, clear and intelligible language.

It is desirable that like any other subject, science should also be taught to the students in their mother tongues. When science is taught in English or an alien language, the student tend to cram things and reproduce facts and figures verbatim in the examination. But then they fail to imbibe the knowledge or relate it to the events and facts of life. Cramming and mugging up facts and figures is not learning science. Learning science in any other language than one's mother tough becomes burdensome, tortuous and a mere ritual. Such a learning cannot be permanent nor will it inspire confidence and commitment to the subject. To make study of science interesting and popular it is imperative that the students are saved from the fear of failure and terminal examinations. It cannot be done unless science teachers are well qualified and professionally fully prepared. They should also be given opportunities of refresh courses to enable them to update and upgrade their knowledge and skills. The quality of teacher preparation is the key factor in successful teaching of science in schools. Teaching and learning of science should be easy, simple, natural and without any kind of fear.

It is only through teaching of science in the schools that scientific temperament can be developed in the young generation of the country. Its teaching helps positively in the removal of superstitions and social evils. The solution of many of our present problems lie in science and its study. Its study equips us well to seek their effective solutions.

The role that teaching of science plays in solving human problems can hardly be overemphasized. science has opened new horizons of knowledge, learning and hope and many more are waiting to be opened in future. Obviously, teaching of science in schools has to play a very significant role in improving the quality of life.

Foolish King

It's a long time, a place, a poor man who lived in an old house broken. The house was so bad that one day suddenly coming upon the earth. The poor man was worried of getting a new house. Children, cut the stomach and borrow it started to make a new home. The walls were standing. Become door, but not to save money terrace poor to fill. So the roof space above it began to spread sackcloth and went into a new home with his wife and children lived. I thought it would make a fine roof until the rain.

The neighborhood was a thief. Seeing the poor man's new house that he thought it might have been rich. It's probably good money from hands. So one night while they were asleep when the thief climbed to the roof of the house of the poor man. But the roof was just one step away from the desk was torn down and the dm above the landlord fell asleep in the room. Sounded landlord got up and was trying to catch the thief. The room was very dark, but the dark shadow benefit thief escaped.

If the thief ran away, but then the owner got angry because he made a false ceiling, so the next day complaining since he came to the king and said to him: "O wise king in a house I wanted to steal and went up on the roof of a house, but the roof space was spread sackcloth. fell down and my legs were not broken break. favor of the landlord to punish you. "

He called the landlord and asked him: "Is it true that this man is your last night to break the ceiling fell down?" "Yes, Holy!'s True." The landlord replied. "They say that the man fell on top of me, not sure if his legs were broken." "If it is true then we are sentencing you to death." He said and called jladun ordered the two hanged. King fell to the feet of the poor, the landlord said: "King cleric me why be executed. Finally the thief should be punished." "Shut up! Cathedral King. How did you dare to advise me?" Poor landlord saw his king can be no hope of justice. He said to the king: "King World!'s Not my fault. Sackcloth spread the rule is working. Fault is hers, she spread sackcloth are bad."

The king ordered him to be released and be hanged rule laborer. Workers who hold the reigning king furaja soldier. He was hanged for standing down, he said unto me that is to say nothing. If he allowed the "King of the world!'s Not my fault. Entire fault of the man who built the desk. Desk sure he would strengthen them and they will not leave any torn." Workers abandoned the rule of the king, and was brought up to make sackcloth. It was presented to the king, the king asked him, "What made you bankrupt?" "Yes, Sir, I had made." The man replied. "Then you are guilty of them." He said thunder and ordered him hanged. "The king, I want you to say something important." Sackcloth maker said: "The thing that made my desk was always very strong., But at the time it was made bankrupt, this time one of my neighbors who are fond of pigeons blow, blow his pigeons. Going to fly in the sky were Rolls were eating. began their spectators. had an impact on my work and I made sackcloth sparsely and weak. fault is not mine, but the pigeon hawk. "

Now the king's order to leave the desk holding a dove brought back. Hearing execution pigeon hawk said to the king, It is better that you get the thief to be killed. then people will start to live in China and the rest. " "Yeah, right." The king said, "the fault is not a thief." He ordered "Thief caught and brought to the hanging." The executioner then grabbed the thief and hanged him put down, but found that the height is too high. His feet are somehow not rise above the ground. It was reported to the king, he laughed and said: "Idiots anywhere, this is a small thing to ask me. Thief tall man a little longer if you do not hold down a little tall are you, do not understand a thing so thick " Were run at the intersection of the executioner. A bag of flour, a little man seemed to have taken on the back. Jladun immediately grabbed her and brought up under the hanging loops. The little man was screaming and jladun Chan was asking is that my fault? Why should I be hanged? The king himself was so spectators. The man said to the king to grant:

"My lord, I am a poor man. Bring firewood from the mountain, and the people selling goods to dhuta. Feed my children this breed. Finally what sin is, for what I Want to hang out? "

"Hey stupid, I know what it is, your fault or not. Crucify a man has just. Wanted to crown a thief to the gallows, but I know that it is above the height of the foot but do not rise above the ground, your height is just right. " Grant the little man said:

"King of the world! Fault is tall thief and you are hanging a little innocent, innocent, poor man. Justice even this is too long, if the thief down to his feet Reply dug a pit, then all will be well. " Its like a king. He was ordered to do so. He got hold of the thief again executioner hanged for hanging the stand down and began to dig a pit under his feet. But the thief was going to say the same:

"Hurry up, I'm late."

King was surprised and asked:

"Hey, it's going to die, why so impatient?"

"King of the world! Thief replied." King of Heaven just died. She died the first time that it will enter into heaven, it is my place as king. Now the king's throne is empty. If you go to hang up I'll reach the first heaven and sit on the royal throne. " Greed and envy in the hearts of the king's fire. Good to be the King of Heaven is Small? So he immediately ordered jladun:

"Thieves released and let me hanged."

Must comply with the order of the king was to be hanged the king was foolish.

Science is a blessing or a curse

"Society Lives by faith, and develops by science."

The modern age is the age of science.Science has greatly influenced every walk of life. It has provided us with many comforts and wonders. The world today is completely changed. Time and space have been conquered.

Wonder in everything

no matter how great or small
Though the blessing of Science are countless yet the question is raised whether it is a blessing or a curse. It makes life comfortable but it is also a devil. It can reduce the whole world into ashes in no time. In reality, there is nothing wrong with Science . It is upto the man to use it either for peace or for war.

Science is the sky which unlocks
for mankind the storehouse of nature.

Modern inventions have greatly contributed to man's comfort. Science has helped man to conquer the forces of nature. The whole world has turned into a global village. There is greater understanding and co-operation between nations. Radio, television, telephone, computers, satellites and air crafts have revolutionised the human life. As a result of remarkable achievements is the field of medicine, agriculture, education, health, communication and banking, the standard of living has greatly improved. the various uses of Science given below will make the point clear.

O Star-eyed Science! For you I'm all praise:
You've changed our nights and changed our days;
You'vs saved us from death and disease;
You brought to our life a morning breeze.

Man's thirst for knowledge, discovery, inventions and self-expansion are limitless. He is an ambitious and highly intelligent being always engaged in pushing farther and farther the limits of his knowledge and enlightement. Science is the name of process by which man satisfies these urges and aspirations. Science has helped in understanding and solving the mysteries of nature. And it is just a beginning because the knowledge is very vast, deep limitless and wonderful.

Wonder is the desire for knowledge

Science has made the human life very easy, comfortable and convenient, better and more meaningful. Science has made many dreams come true. It has helped him to reach the moon and other planets and soon he may go beyond the solar system in a very big way.

Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon.

Electricity is a wonderful achivement of Science . All types of machinery can be run with electricity. Our houses are lighted, cooled and heated with the electric instruments.

After hard work, man needs healthy recreation to relax himself. Science has provides us with the radio, cinema, the television, the computer and the internet etc. These modern means not only entertain but also educate the people. Besides this, the great enemy of man, ignorance, has been completed defeated. Books, magazines and newspapers are being published on a mass scale. Every one is now in a position to receive education. Owing to the invention of the electric printing press

The latest means of transport and communication have greatly influenced the human activities. The telephone, wireless, mobiles and internet have changed the whole world into a global village.

" the new electronic interdependence
recreates the world in the image
of a global village."

Science has made a remarkable contribution in the field of medicine. It has helped us to fight against fatal disease.. And yet diseases like AIDS, malaria, cancer etc., are to be conquered and eradicated.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

It is these challenges which inspire scientist to move on forward to new and better discoveries, achievements and inventions. Today man feels more safe and secure, And man's life expectancy have now considerably increased and child and infant mortality decreased. Science has completely changed our outlook on life and things and many superstitions and blind beliefs are now things of the past.

The technological and scientific wonders in the field of biotechnology, genetic engineering, computer application, superconductivity etc., have been really superb. Now hybridization of genes is possible under which a piece of DNA of one organism can be grafted on DNA of another organism. Thus "cloning" has opened up vast opportunities and limitless possibilities in the field.

Science has also helped us in the field of agriculture. There are many machines equipments which helps us to increase the production of our crops. Now, the farmers use scientific methods of farming to increase the agricultural production.

Though Science has proved a blessing in human life, it has also acted as a curse in certain fields. No doubt, the atomic energy has brought a revolution in human civilization but, at the same time, the nuclear weapons can destroy the whole world in no time. The example of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is before us. Science has producad many deadlier weapons which made wars very horrible. Man was never so insecure as he is today.

Science has also polluted our atmosphere. Our seas, our rivers and lakes are dead or dying. There are no values and morality. The advanced countries are exploiting the poor countries. Man has developed materially but he has made no moral progress.

In fact, there is nothing wrong with Science . Science is knowledge, and knowledge is power. Now, we must know how to use this power to our advantage and not to our destruction and ruin.

My Hobby

Hobby is a useful work which is done in spare time for pleasure without any monetary benefit. This occupation is quite apart from the regular profession. It is pursued only for recreation. after hard labour, hobby provides us a cheap source of entertainment and amusement. It saves us from the dull routine of life. It gives us an activity when we have nothing to do. Hobby makes life pleasant and interesting. There is nothing like a hobby as a means of relaxation, enjoyment and refreshment. Everybody should have a hobby to break the monotony and boredom of daily routine work.

There may be as many hobbies as there are people. They are countless and new ones are being added to their numbers. Some hobbies may be really strange and starling while others may be conventional and well known. There are many hobbies like gardening, stamp-collecting, coin-collecting, photography, reading, etc. Everyone chooses his hobby according to his taste and requirement. Gardening is my hobby I want to relax after a day's hard labour. Gardening makes me forget my worries and refreshes my mind. I take interest from my very young age in gardening. In those days my father was a high official in a ministry and we lived in a spacious house with a lawn and a big garden. There were servants and gardener. My hobby goes to those early days of my childhood about 11-12 years back. Now we live in our own house which has a small garden.

I spend my spare time in garden. I take interest in cultivating beautiful flowers in it. I have grown flower plants of rose, lily and sun-flower. The sweet fragrance of the flowers gives me a great pleasure. There is always something fresh before my eyes. It keeps me healthy, happy and fresh for the day's laboure.

You are my first and true

Like sunset ocean blue

You are my beautiful flower

I am glad I picked you

My Parents, friends and neighbors say that I have green fingers. I love plants, flowers, trees etc. from the core of my health. I treat them as my friends, relation and as my second self. Actually I can never think of my life without them. They lend colors to my life and dreams. I feel great pride about my garden.

From the garden of plants;

Do I move towards the garden of inner joys

The flowers dance on leaves

And ideas dance on my heartbeats and mind.

My parents also feel proud of me and spend much of their leisure hours in the garden. My mother uses the flowers from the garden in decorating house. My garden is a source of physically exercise and aesthetic pleasure

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.

I have the tools of the gardener. I have to do a lot of work with my own hands. I prepare the land and manure it. I water my plants regularly and protect them from the extreme weather. I have prepared many beds in it. Each bed contain flowers of different shapes and colors. I have also grown vegetables for our daily use. So, we do not purchase vegetables from market.

Earth is here so kind, that just tickle her with a hoe and she laughs with a harvest.

Gardening is my passion. It inspires me to do something new. I cast a glance over my small beautiful lawn, my heart blossoms.

As I look out to my garden

I feel a sense of pride

My hobby give me a lot of satisfacation and pleasure. After my studies and homework I retire to my garden and work there or just sit and enjoy the healthy environs. Had I not cultivated this hobby, I must have missed a source of much joy, fun, inspiration and peace of mind. Many types of birds and butterflies visit the garden and add more to its beauty and fascination. some song-birds are regular visitors. A few of them also make their nests during breeding time there on the tree. My hobby, gardening, keeps me in touch with nature.

and in my flower-beds, I think,

Smile the carnation and the pink,

A friend in need is a friend indeed

Once, two friends set out on a journey. They promised to help each other in the time of need and never to leave each other. When they were crossing a forest, they saw a big bear at a distance coming towards them. One of them was very clever. Leaving hisfriend to help him to climb the tree but he turned a deaf ear to his requests. The bear was approaching nearer and nearer. The poor fellow was in a great danger. At last an idea came to his mind. He lay down on the ground pretending to be dead as he had heard that the bear does not eat the dead. Mean while the bear came to him, sniffed him and thinking him dead went his way. When the bear was out of sight the selfish friend came down the tree and asked his friend what the bear was whispering in his ear. The second friend replied that it whispered to him to never keep company with a selfish friend. Saying this he set out on his journey leaving the selfish friend alone.

MORAL:

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Ability

"Ability is nothing without opportunity."

An Ideal Student

What are the characteristics of an ideal student? What are the constituent elements that go in making a student model and imitable?Does it mean that a student be on the top of the successful candidates most of the time?Does it mean that he or she should be a champion in games and sports? Does it mean that he or she should be a bookworm, always engrossed in rote-learning and visiting the library? Is an ideal one who is always docile, obedient and never creating any mischief? These are the question often asked and discussed, but all these question are irrelevant when asked in isolation.

A student is the future of a nation. He is just like the blood of a body. His passion, energy and talent keep the nation alive. No doubt, the student of today is the leader of tomorrow. An Ideal student's personality is integrated. Hr is organically, mentally and psychologically a whole and complete person. He is to be judged in totally and not is parts. As a human being he is bound to have a few weakness here and there. He may be weak in a subject or two but these human deficiencies will never disqualify a student from an ideal one when in balance he has many other qualities of head and heart. Because a person has to take great pains to acquire knowledge. Learning is not a bed of roses.

IF LITTLE OUR LABOURS, LITTLE ARE OUR GAINS,

OUR FORTUNES ARE ACCORDING TO OUR PAINS.

A student who gets high marks, is not necessarily as ideal student . He may score highly but fail in real life. Anideal student is a person who bears certain qualities of character. He is very clear about his objectives. He is brilliant, hard-working and obedient. His achievements in the class room, examination hall and the games are never ordinary. But then he need not be always on the top. Toppers often become conceited, arrogant and look down upon other student. They suffer from superiority complex and neglect their health and activities related to it. They happen often to be bookworms. But an ideal student keeps a balance between body and mind and takes proper care of both. He knows that healthy mind lives in a healthy body and acts accoringly,

A SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY.

This is a golden motto of life. He is always helpful and optimistic.

SHOOT FOR THE MOON. EVEN IF YOU MISS,

YOU'LL LAND AMONG THE STARS.

An ideal student is very clear about his aim of life.He also knows how to materialize it. An ambition is a guiding star in student's life. It inspires him to achieve noble ideals life. It stimulates his energy, courage and enthusiasm. The student who has no definite aim in his life, cannot be called an ideal student .

"GREAT AMBITION IS THE PASSION OF A GREAT CHARACTER."

An Ideal student is conscious that time is precious and uses every minute of it meaningfully. He is not only brilliant but also hardworking. He puts his heart and soul in his work.He devotes himself to the pursuit of knowledge. He knows that excellent performance demands hard-work and full devotion. He does not believe is short cuts and reads his books thoroughly. his aim is not just to pass the examination. but to seek knowledge. He pays full attention to his studies and does not waste his time in trivial and useless activities. He burn the midnight oil to achieve his goal.

HARD WORK WITHOUT TALENT IS A SHAME,

BUT TALENT WITHOUT HARD WORK IS A TRAGEDY

Though an ideal student is diligent and punctual yet he is not a book worm. He is not a frog in a small well. He actively takes parts in sports and co-curricular activities. He know that a healthy body is necessary for healthy mind.He neglects neither his studies nor his body. He pays special attention to the proper and all round development his personality. He is sociable friendly and co-operative with his follows and teachers. He participates in all collective activities with zeal and zest. He takes pleasure in healthy activities.

An ideal student is good mannered, obedient and exemplary. he is smart, well-dressed, active and cheerful. He need not wear costly and fashionable clothes etc. He believes in simple living and high thinking. He thinks of dignity, self-respect,economy, cleanliness and polite behaviour. He is unaffected, natural and spontaneous in his talk. He may have some harmless and innocent mischief here and there. He is kind towards birds and beast and other beings and respectful to elders. He keeps himself away from cheap and dirty things. He always makes the most of his holidays. He goes out for picnic and excursions. He visits natural scenery books are only a second-rate source of knowledge.

AN IMPULSE FROM THE VERNAL WOOD,

MAY TEACH YOU MORE O MAN

OF MORAL EVIL OR OF GOOD

THAN ALL THE SAGES CAN.

An Ideal Student is conscious of his duties, responsibilities and rights as a student of and a young citizen. He is leader and valuable citizen in making. He is fearless, bold and possessed with moral courage. His character and conduct are examplary. He knows that if character is lost everything is lost. And so he shapes his character after the grat and patriotic men and women of the country. They inspire him to work hard and achieve one success after another. He avoids bad company and befriend other intelligent, good mannered and hardworking students, for a man is known by the company he keeps. He knows that even one single rotten apple is enough to spoil the whole lot of apples. He feels much grateful toward his parents society, for all the facilities being enjoyed by him. He never forgets to be obedient, caring and loving to his parents. he is truthful and never tells lies. Such a student makes a school society and the country proud. We need more and more such students because on them depend the success, prosperity and strength of a country.

An ideal student is God- fearing. He says his prayers regularly. He tries his best to follow the teachings of Islam in his everyday life. He does not abuse others. He does not quarrel with others. He raises a cry against cruelty and injustice in the society. He helps the peoplein their hard times. He prays to God regularly to give him strength of body and mind. He also takes part in social work. He is living model of the following advice.

THIS ABOVE ALL, TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE,

AND IT MUST FOLLOW, AS THE NIGHT THE DAY

THOUGH CANST NOT BE FALSE TO ANY MAN

An ideal student develops balance in his action and logic. He plans his life wisely and avails himself of the opportunities of the modern age. He draws inspiration from the great personalities of the past and develop his all-round personality.

The teacher community has a great responsibility to produce ideal student s. Much depends on the teachers. Students reflect them. They remain for a good deal of time with them in school and follow in their foot-steps. If the teachers are well qualified, dedicated, men of strong character, truthful, hardworking, sincere and honest they can produce thousands of ideal students because their influence is always great, lasting and unavoidable.
