An Ideal Student

What are the characteristics of an ideal student? What are the constituent elements that go in making a student model and imitable?Does it mean that a student be on the top of the successful candidates most of the time?Does it mean that he or she should be a champion in games and sports? Does it mean that he or she should be a bookworm, always engrossed in rote-learning and visiting the library? Is an ideal one who is always docile, obedient and never creating any mischief? These are the question often asked and discussed, but all these question are irrelevant when asked in isolation.

A student is the future of a nation.He is just like the blood of a body.His passion, energy and talent keep the nation alive. No doubt, the student of today is the leader of tomorrow.An Ideal student's personality is integrated. Hr is organically, mentally and psychologically a whole and complete person. He is to be judged in totally and not is parts. As a human being he is bound to have a few weakness here and there. He may be weak in a subject or two but these human deficiencies will never disqualify a student from an ideal one when in balance he has many other qualities of head and heart. Because a person has to take great pains to acquire knowledge. Learning is not a bed of roses.

IF LITTLE OUR LABOURS, LITTLE ARE OUR GAINS,

OUR FORTUNES ARE ACCORDING TO OUR PAINS.

A student who gets high marks, is not necessarily as ideal student . He may score highly but fail in real life. Anideal student is a person who bears certain qualities of character. He is very clear about his objectives. He is brilliant, hard-working and obedient. His achievements in the class room, examination hall and the games are never ordinary. But then he need not be always on the top. Toppers often become conceited, arrogant and look down upon other student.They suffer from superiority complex and neglect their health and activities related to it. They happen often to be bookworms. But an ideal student keeps a balance between body and mind and takes proper care of both. He knows that healthy mind lives in a healthy body and acts accoringly,

A SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY.

This is a golden motto of life. He is always helpful and optimistic.

SHOOT FOR THE MOON. EVEN IF YOU MISS,

YOU'LL LAND AMONG THE STARS.

An ideal student is very clear about his aim of life.He also knows how to materialize it. An ambition is a guiding star in student's life. It inspires him to achieve noble ideals life. It stimulates his energy, courage and enthusiasm. The student who has no definite aim in his life, cannot be called an ideal student .

"GREAT AMBITION IS THE PASSION OF A GREAT CHARACTER."

An Ideal student is conscious that time is precious and uses every minute of it meaningfully. He is not only brilliant but also hardworking. He puts his heart and soul in his work.He devotes himself to the pursuit of knowledge. He knows that excellent performance demands hard-work and full devotion. He does not believe is short cuts and reads his books thoroughly. his aim is not just to pass the examination. but to seek knowledge. He pays full attention to his studies and does not waste his time in trivial and useless activities. He burn the midnight oil to achieve his goal.

HARD WORK WITHOUT TALENT IS A SHAME,

BUT TALENT WITHOUT HARD WORK IS A TRAGEDY

Though an ideal student is diligent and punctual yet he is not a book worm. He is not a frog in a small well. He actively takes parts in sports and co-curricular activities. He know that a healthy body is necessary for healthy mind.He neglects neither his studies nor his body. He pays special attention to the proper and all round development his personality.He is sociable friendly and co-operative with his follows and teachers. He participates in all collective activities with zeal and zest. He takes pleasure in healthy activities.

An ideal student is good mannered, obedient and exemplary. he is smart, well-dressed, active and cheerful. He need not wear costly and fashionable clothes etc. He believes in simple living and high thinking. He thinks of dignity, self-respect,economy, cleanliness and polite behaviour. He is unaffected, natural and spontaneous in his talk. He may have some harmless and innocent mischief here and there. He is kind towards birds and beast and other beings and respectful to elders. He keeps himself away from cheap and dirty things. He always makes the most of his holidays. He goes out for picnic and excursions. He visits natural scenery books are only a second-rate source of knowledge.

AN IMPULSE FROM THE VERNAL WOOD,

MAY TEACH YOU MORE O MAN

OF MORAL EVIL OR OF GOOD

THAN ALL THE SAGES CAN.

An Ideal Student is conscious of his duties, responsibilities and rights as a student of and a young citizen.He is leader and valuable citizen in making.He is fearless, bold and possessed with moral courage. His character and conduct are examplary. He knows that if character is lost everything is lost. And so he shapes his character after the grat and patriotic men and women of the country. They inspire him to work hard and achieve one success after another. He avoids bad company and befriend other intelligent, good mannered and hardworking students,for a man is known by the company he keeps. He knows that even one single rotten apple is enough to spoil the whole lot of apples. He feels much grateful toward his parents society, for all the facilities being enjoyed by him. He never forgets to be obedient, caring and loving to his parents. he is truthful and never tells lies. Such a student makes a school society and the country proud. We need more and more such students because on them depend the success, prosperity and strength of a country.

An ideal student is God- fearing. He says his prayers regularly. He tries his best to follow the teachings of Islam in his everyday life. He does not abuse others. He does not quarrel with others. He raises a cry against cruelty and injustice in the society. He helps the peoplein their hard times. He prays to God regularly to give him strength of body and mind. He also takes part in social work. He is living model of the following advice.

THIS ABOVE ALL, TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE,

AND IT MUST FOLLOW, AS THE NIGHT THE DAY

THOUGH CANST NOT BE FALSE TO ANY MAN

An ideal student develops balance in his action and logic. He plans his life wisely and avails himself of the opportunities of the modern age. He draws inspiration from the great personalities of the past and develop his all-round personality.

The teacher community has a great responsibility to produce ideal student s. Much depends on the teachers. Students reflect them. They remain for a good deal of time with them in school and follow in their foot-steps. If the teachers are well qualified, dedicated, men of strong character, truthful, hardworking, sincere and honest they can produce thousands of ideal students because their influence is always great, lasting and unavoidable.
